Registration

How do I register for Ferret Card?

You can register online via our website www.ferretcard.com/merchant. In order to complete your online registration, Ferret Card will need verification that you represent your business. You will need to e-mail to merchant@ferretcard.com one of the following: - a copy of a utility bill showing your business name and address - a copy of your business registration documents showing your business name and address You will need to mention your Ferret Card account details in your e-mail. Getting Started

What do I need to do to get started?

To get started, you will first need to register your merchant account on our website (www.ferretcard.com/newmerchant). Once you have signed up, Ferret Card will require you to e-mail some business documents to merchant@ferretcard.com as verification that you represent this business. > back-to-top line

Hardware

What hardware do I need to run Ferret Card Rewards in my store?

All you need is internet access, either on a smart phone, notebook, iPod, etc. For best performance, we would suggest a smart phone connected to a data plan, or connected to your own Wi-Fi network. Ferret Card does not require any specialised hardware to run. You DO NOT need to do any modifications to your POS sytem. > back-to-top line

Chain Stores

My business has more than 1 location. How do I add those to Ferret Card?

You will need to add each venue to your Ferret Card merchant account, under Chain Management. Only a user with admin status from your organisation can add venues. Please contact us at merchant@ferretcard.com if you are experiencing difficulties with this, and our team can assist you in getting set-up. Once your stores have been set-up as part of the same chain, each store will use the same Ferret Card Rewards and Ferret Card Specials. Additionally, Gold Stamps issued from 1 store will be compatible with Gold Stamps issued from any other store in the chain. > back-to-top line

Can I modify more store description and details on my Store Page?

Yes, you can modify any necessary details inside by editing your account profile inside your merchant account. > back-to-top line

User Account

Can I set up secondary users for my merchant account?

Yes, you can set up secondary users under your merchant account. This is ideal to provide your staff with their own login and password, so they can issue Gold Stamps and redeem Rewards, but cannot change your account settings or handle your Ferret Card Specials campaigns. > back-to-top line

Stamps

How do I issue stamps to my customers?

You can issue stamps to your customers in the following ways: Mobile App:

  • - Using the Ferret Card merchant app, you can scan the QR Code contained on a physical Ferret Card, or on customer's Ferret Card App for smart phones
  • - Manually key in customer's Ferret Card number in the field provided
  • - Manually key in customer's e-mail address in the field provided
Internet (PC, notebook, etc):
  • - On main page of merchant account, after you have logged in, manually key in customer's Ferret Card number in the field provided
  • - Manually key in customer's e-mail address in the field provided

You can even issue Gold Stamps to customers who are not yet Ferret Card members! All you need to do is enter the customer's e-mail address (as above). Those Gold Stamps will then be waiting for that customer when he registers as a Ferret Card member using that e-mail address. > back-to-top

Are all stamps the same?

No, not all stamps are the same. A Gold Stamp issued at your store is different from the Gold Stamp issued by another store. Ferret Card members cannot substitute one for the other, but they can exchange stamps in the Stamp Exchange (giving up 2 stamps in exchange for 1 more stamp. Those 2 stamps are now available for someone else to trade for). This means that, as a business owner, you have complete control over the number of stamps issued from your business, and never need to worry about being swamped by Ferret Card members redeeming too many rewards. > back-to-top

What is the difference between Gold Stamps and Silver Stamps?

Gold Stamps are issued by you, the merchant, whenever a customer shops at your store. Silver Stamps are issued by Ferret Card to up to 5 of your customers friends whenever they shop at your store. Additionally, a Ferret Card member can only trade for your Gold Stamps from the Stamp Exchange if they have been to your store at least once. There is no limit on trading Silver Stamps, and any Ferret Card member can trade for your Silver Stamps in the Stamp Exchange. > back-to-top

Why are Silver Stamps important?

Silver Stamps are earned by Ferret Card members when a close friend shops at your store. Ferret Card members who earn Silver Stamps are your potential customers, who have heard about your business via their friends. Imagine that your friend always goes to the same restaurant. If that friend keeps going back, it must be good! Thanks to the Silver Stamps earned from that restaurant, this potential customer has gotten an indirect recommendation to visit the restaurant, plus a special loyalty reward on his first visit. Having a great reward available for customers redeeming Silver Stamps is a great way to attract new customers to your business! > back-to-top line

Rewards

Why do I need to create 2 rewards, one for Gold Stamps and one for Silver Stamps?

Ferret Card requires you to have a minimum of 2 rewards on offer at all times, allowing your customers to redeem their Gold or Silver Stamps at your business. This is to ensure that all stamps that are issued from your business have a chance to actually be used. > back-to-top

Nobody is redeeming my rewards! Am I doing something wrong?

There could be a few factors at play here:

  • - Ask your staff if they have been issuing Gold Stamps to your customers, or asking your customers if they are Ferret Card members. If not, your staff should be able to assist your customers in becoming Ferret Card members in order to enjoy the rewards on offer.
  • - Perhaps you set your redemption levels too high, or set other difficult terms and conditions to your reward? Try changing the terms of your reward to see if it is easier for your customers to redeem.
  • - Perhaps you need to improve your offering? If your reward is not attractive enough, your customers may be trading your stamps for the stamps of another business! A quick look at the Stamp Exchange to see how many stamps are in the market might give you an idea about how attractive your customers find your offer.

Favourites

What does it mean when my customer has selected my business as their Favourite?

That means your customer has chosen your business to be one of their favourites! Ferret Card members can only nominate a business to be their favourite once per week, and can only select a business they have visited before. When a member declares your business to be their favourite, they are also sharing this with their friends on Facebook. Being your customer's favourite business is a great way to boost word of mouth awareness for your business. Ferret Card members can only have 1 Favourite business at a time, so you'll need to be providing your best customer service to be recognised as a Favourite of your customers. > back-to-top

What do my customers get out of declaring a business as their Favourite?

That is completely up to you! As a business owner, you can choose to offer a special thank you to your loyal customers who have taken the time to declare your business as their Favourite. > back-to-top

How do I know if a customer has made my business their Favourite?

You will see this when you enter the customer's Ferret Card member details either into the Merchant mobile app or Merchant website. Alternatively, the customer may show you their smartphone which states that you are their current Favourite business. > back-to-top line

Reviews

Who can review my business on Ferret Card?

Only Ferret Card members who have linked their account to a Facebook account. This ensures that a real name is being used to review your business, making it harder for anonymous users to post false reviews. Additionally, Ferret Card will display whether or not a reviewer has actually been to your business (by whether or not the review has earned a Gold Stamp at your business). Ferret Card members will also view reviews in the following priority:

  • - Reviews left by friends
  • - Reviews left by actual customers
  • - Reviews left by users who we cannot verify have visited your business

This further helps to ensure that reviews are as useful as possible for users. A positive review left by a friend is worth far more than a negative comment posted by a random stranger! > back-to-top

Somebody left a negative review on my business! Can I delete it?

No, Ferret Card does not allow businesses to remove reviews unless they are shown to be blatantly false or contain inappropriate language. However, as a business owner you are able to respond to each and every review. This could be to thank the customer for leaving a great review, or to invite a customer back who had a bad experience at their last visit to your business. > back-to-top

How are star ratings determined?

Star ratings are calculated based on user reviews. These ratings are further weighted based on our own formula, in order to make it harder for individual users to abuse the system and unfairly skew the ratings. > back-to-top line

What are specials?

Specials are offers which you can target to a select audience. These specials will appear inside those customers’s Ferret Card member account (but on smartphones and on website). > back-to-top

Who can I target specials to?

There a number of targeting options available to you, including:

  • - only to existing customers
  • - only to people who have never been to your store
  • - frequent customers
  • - customers you haven’t seen for a while
  • - your customers’ friends
  • - people who have earned specific pins
  • - people who visit certain types of stores
  • - age
  • - gender

Stamp Exchange

Why does Ferret Card automatically place 10 Gold Stamps, and 10 Silver Stamps into the Stamp Exchange?

This is to help promote your business to Ferret Card members from the moment you register your business with Ferret Card. Q: What is Ferret Card compatible with? 

A: Ferret Card is compatible with both Android and iOS. The minimum requirements for the Android version is 2.1 a. The minimum requirements for the iOS is 4.3

Q: Do you have a quick user guide on how to use the mobile app?

A: Yes. Please download the Mobile App Guide here. You can even print it out, post it up at your store counter and use it for your  own reference or for your staff to refer to.

Q: Why isn’t my camera scanning the QR code?

A: Light reflection may affect the scanning process. Try adjusting the position of the card or phone.

Q: Why is my app working so slow?

A: Check your internet connection or 3G connection.

Q: Oops, I made a mistake. I accidentally gave out too many stamps, can I reverse it?

A: Yes, you can cancel out the mistake by issuing (-negative) stamps.

Q: I accidentally gave out too few stamps, can I add to it?

A: Yes, you can correct that by issuing more stamps to add to it.

Q: My customer forgot to bring his card, what can I do to help him/her?

A: Give him/her another card. He/she can collect the stamps now & combine it with the original account later on the website.

Q: What is the difference between Gold and Silver stamps again?

A: Gold stamps are awarded to your paying customer. Silver stamps are secondary rewards given to his/her five best friends as word-of-mouth marketing incentives to visit your store.

Q: I don't see any items in Redeem Specials. Am I missing something?

A: No, Specials are optional items created using premium services of targeted advertisements.

Q: I get an error message when trying to redeem a reward for my customer. What is wrong?

A: There may be insuficient stamps for the reward selected. Check the reward requirements.

Q: How will my customer know if the correct number of stamps was rewarded or redeemed?

A: If your customer is using a smartphone, he/she will get a message in the news feed. If it is not showing up yet, he/she may need to refresh the news feed to see the latest data.

Q: I am worried about leaving my store mobile phone at the cashier counter.  How can I secure or lock it?

A:  There are a variety of phone locks that you can buy online or in phone accessory stores. You can purchase a phone cable lock to secure your phone at the cashier counter as you like.

Q: Help! The system is down. I can't process the rewards. What can I do to keep my customers happy?

A: If the system is down, write down your customer's membership number and the number of stamps they are entitled to. You can manually enter them later when the system is back up and running.

Q: Why are my Reports not showing anything? It is empty and doesn't show any data.

A: This can be due to several reasons

1)You may not have any Ferret Card customers yet, you have not issued or scanned any cards/smart phones or you have not gave out any stamps to any Ferret Card members.

2) There is not enough data to generate the reports. 

Once you have several customers using Ferret Card in your store, the Reports can then be generated.

Q: Can I assign different permission levels to my staff to prevent misuse of the stamps and reward system?

A: Yes, you can assign different user log-ins and password for your employees with different permission levels.

Q: Can I create multiple usernames and separate log-ins for my staff ?

A: Yes, you can assign different user log-ins and password for your employees with different permission levels. See Merchant User Access Permission.

Q: How can I update or make a correction to my store details (eg. address, map, phone, description etc.)

A: Log into your Online Merchant Account, go to Profile and make the changes as necessary.

Q: Can I change my store icon?

A: Yes, you can do that in Profile.

Q: Can I modify my stamp rewards once they are created? Can I create multiple rewards and multiple types of reward redemptions?

A: Yes, you can do that in Rewards section.

Q: Can I create multiple rewards and multiple types of reward redemptions?

A: Yes, you can do that in Rewards section.

Q: Can I set black-out time or days for reward redemptions? (e.g. not redeemable on Sat. and Sun.)

A: Yes, you can set the requirements, terms and conditions when you create your rewards  in Rewards section. You can also modify them as necessary after creating the rewards.

Q: How does Stamp Exchange work? Can it be abused? Will it increase the redemption cost of my business?

A: No, in no way does the Stamp Exchange increase the potential redemption cost to a merchant. Find out more about how the incredible Stamp Exchange system works here and how it benefits your business.

  • Create optional Specials (or targeted ads). Your ads only appear to customers you want to reach. You can target them by age, location, interest and much more.
  • Works for any budget and you pay only if a customer views or claims your ad.
  • Create New Special - Create your own customized ads and set your own budget.
  • View (Transaction) - View the effectiveness of your promotion and the response.
  • View (Settings) - View the details of each Special created.
  • Delete - Delete existing specials.
